  • Started to play basketball during his scholar years in the German School (Deutsche Schule) of Istanbul
  • Member of the basketball and rowing teams of Galatasaray Sports Club, in Istanbul
  • International referee: called 79 international games, including the Final of the 1955 European Championship, in Budapest, between Hungary and Czechoslovakia
  • Member of the Technical Commission of FIBA: 1956-1976
  • Founder and President of the Turkish Basketball Federation: 1958-1964
  • Author of the “Techniques of Basketball Refereeing”, adopted as a guidebook by FIBA
  • Elected to the Executive Board of the Turkish Olympic Committee: 1968
  • Director of the Organizing Committee of the 1971 Mediterranean Games, in Izmir
  • Secretary General of the Turkish Olympic Committee: 1973-1982
  • Vice-President of the Turkish Olympic Committee
  • President of the Turkish Olympic Committee: 1982-1988
