The FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre is entrusted by FIBA to run a strict high-quality and comprehensive Approval Programme for basketball related products and equipment.
Only established manufacturers may submit their products for approval. These products must be tested by a recognised and qualified testing institute (accepted by the FIBA Equipment & Venue Centre) according to at least the minimum standards established by FIBA (the latest Official Basketball Equipment Rule Book can be downloaded by clicking here).
The manufacturing company applying for approval must have been in activity for at least 8 years, and the product for which they are seeking approval, must have been in the relevant market segment for at least 6 years.
To apply for approval, send an enquiry letter or email, including definition of the product to be approved and all relevant technical literature* and documentation, to:
FIBA - International Basketball Federation
*The technical information should comprise brochures, commercial leaflets and technical specifications.
Once an initial enquiry has been made and the full process outlined by the FIBA Venue & Equipment Centre, applicants will be required to fill in and submit the below questionnaire, along with copies of safety and quality certificates mentioned in the document.
As equipment is the central piece in the practice of basketball and in order to meet the highest possible standard of play, the criteria for approval are particularly strict. All additional information and requirements, specific to the basketball approval process, are outlined in the FIBA Equipment & Venue Basketball Requirement guide.
