  • He retired as a mortgage banker in 1997
  • Started refereeing in 1958
  • Began his collegiate officiating career in 1964 when he started calling games at the Missouri Valley Conference (Division I, NCAA)
  • Joined the officiating staff of the Big Eight Conference in 1965
  • Refereed Big Ten and Big Eight Conference games as of 1968
  • Called in the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball for a total of 28 seasons (1964-1992)
  • Worked in 18 NCAA Tournaments from 1971 to 1990
  • Called in 5 NCAA Final Fours: 1971, 1973, 1976, 1978 and 1990
  • Refereed in the Munich 1972 Olympic Games
  • Called the Puerto Rico 1974 World Championship
  • Refereed in the Cali 1971 Pan American Games
  • Called in the Mexico City 1974 R. William Jones Cup
  • Worked in many other international tournaments and championships
  • Supervisor of Officials/Coordinator of Men's Basketball Officials at the Missouri Valley Conference: 1991-2009

Distinctions & Recognitions

  • Received the Ellis Veech Award, given to an outstanding official by the St. Louis Writers Baseball Association, in 1996
  • Inducted into the Illinois Basketball Association Hall of Fame in 1998
