Youth Leader Kiady wins a grant to launch own Basketball For Good project

Antananarivo (MADAGASCAR) - When Kiady Mahery Rabarijoelina from Madagascar participated in the Youth Leadership workshop at the Young Lions Cup in Botswana in December 2019, he did not know what to expect and where it could take him. The outcome was a complete success story.

“My participation in the Young Lions Cup opened my eyes to a new vision of basketball, especially 3x3; showing that basketball is much more than just a game, it is a major tool for development,” said Kiady.

When he learned that the Cooperation and Cultural Action Service (SCAC) of the French Embassy in Madagascar and the Sports House launched a competition with the aim of promoting the creation or development of a project concerning the sports world, Kiady did not hesitate to participate in the competition with a project proposal in order to receive support to carry it out.

“The experience from Botswana motivated me to participate in this competition in order to implement my achievements while keeping the Basketball For Good concept. "

His project entitled "3x3 for development" is based on the same principle as the Young Lions Cup in which he participated: bringing together young people around 3x3 basketball and taking the opportunity to conduct personal development workshops. The young Madagascan would like to show the participants of his project how much 3x3 basketball can be a vector of values such as leadership, creativity, responsibility, gender equality, social equality ...

His main goal is to use sport to bring educational and developmental advancement in its society. Kiady wants to use his experience gained at the leadership seminar he attended with the Foundation to bring that extra social element to 3x3 basketball.

The judges were impressed with the young man's project and named him among the winners. Kiady is therefore delighted to be able to launch its organization, he can count on the help of the Malagasy Basketball Federation as well as the University of Antananarivo.

Due to the current situation, the project has not been able to take place yet, but Kiady is confident he will be able to set a date by the end of the year.
