Referees clinic in Iraq a big hit

BAGHDAD (Iraq) - A referees clinic was organized by the FIBA Regional Office - Asia from August13-16 in Baghdad, Iraq.

The four-day programme also included a range of theory and practical officiating sessions, which provided a wide variety of learning opportunities for those present, like the latest updates related to refereeing, latest updates in basketball rules, and at the same time it was a good opportunity for the Regional Office to scout and identify potential new FIBA and National referees.

The clinic attracted a total of 48 referees who expressed their happiness in the information provided during the well-attended clinic.

“It was an excellent clinic that featured a mixture of theory presentation, I’m extremely pleasure to have participated in the sessions,” said one of the participants.

Another participant added: “ I really enjoyed the lectures, the presentation simple and clear  was reached was simple and clear. 

In addition to the written and fitness tests, basketball games were organized to evaluate the performance of the participants.

“We want to thank the FIBA Regional Office – Asia for organizing this clinic in Iraq. The content of the clinic was rich and discussed the various facets of refereeing ” -  said the Iraqi Basketball Association head of refereeing committee, Mr. Marwan Hameed.

“The clinic had clear ideas and defined concepts, and the different tests and practical sessions were a welcoming bonus” he concluded.

This referees clinic in Iraqi follows another successful one that took place in Damascus Syria between 13-16 July.
