Last chance for tickets as pools finalized for FIBA 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament 2024

DEBRECEN (Hungary) - Dreams will go on the line as the last tickets for the Paris Games will be fought at the FIBA 3x3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament 2024 on May 16-19.

Sixteen teams per gender will be eying the six Olympic tickets up for grabs in Debrecen - the beautiful Hungarian city that doubles as a highly popular 3x3 destination.

There have been some changes to the draws after Latvia (men's), the Netherlands (men's) and Azerbaijan (women's) claimed their spots to Paris at the FIBA 3x3 Universality Olympic Qualifying Tournaments played in Hong Kong and Utsunomiya

Let's take a closer look at the draws.

In the men's, Europe Cup silver medalist Lithuania highlight Pool A as the No.1 seed and they will be extra determined after falling short to the Netherlands in the final at the UOQT 2.

A well-known Switzerland and youthful Germany are also in the group, alongside Africa Cup bronze medalist Madagascar.

The Netherlands were set for Pool B, but don't have to journey to Debrecen after their unforgettable victory in Utsunomiya. Their spot has been taken by Israel, who will tackle European power Austria, reigning AmeriCup champs Puerto Rico and host Hungary.

Pool C won't feature Latvia, whose quest to defend their Olympic gold medal is on track after collecting the W in Hong Kong. Their spot in Debrecen has been taken by Spain, who are a hoops power starting to make a splash on the half-court.

France and Africa Cup champs Egypt haven't gotten it done previously, but will be battle-hardened while Canada are 3x3 pioneers out to create history.

Belgium will be looking to shake up Pool D having finished fourth at the Tokyo Olympics and face 3x3-crazy Mongolia, Japan and Poland.

Men's

Pool A: Lithuania, Switzerland, Germany, Madagascar
Pool B: Austria, Puerto Rico, Israel, Hungary,
Pool C: France, Canada, Spain, Egypt
Pool D: Mongolia, Belgium, Japan, Poland

In the women's, top seed and perennial Women's Series power Germany will have to quickly shrug off the disappointment of UOQT 2. They will face Tunisia and Poland, who came within an inch of clinching an Olympic spot at UOQT 1.

But the Poles were denied by Azerbaijan, who were supposed to be in this group but have been replaced by Ukraine.

No.2 seed Canada fell agonizingly short in Utsunomiya after losing a thrilling final to Australia, but they get another chance.

It won't be easy with the American powerhouse to face a blockbuster with Europe Cup bronze medalist Lithuania, while Czechia and Chile are also in Pool B.
