SUVA - FIBA is working with Basketball Fiji (BF) to prepare for the 2016 U18 Oceania Championships to be held in Suva, Fiji from the 4th – 11th of December.

FIBA Regional Executive Director David Crocker and FIBA Sports Administrator Amanda Jenkins visited the BF office from May 8th – May 10th. This visit included meetings with potential partner organisations for the tournament and a site visit to Vodafone Arena.

FIBA is very excited that the U18 Oceania Championships will be returning to Vodafone Arena this year. The planning committee is eager to get started and improve on what was an amazing tournament in 2014. - Crocker

The top eight U18 men's and women's teams from around Oceania will come together in December to compete for a chance to play in the 2017 U19 World Championships. With only one qualification spot available for both men’s and women’s this is sure to be a thrilling affair.

There's no love lost between Australian and New Zealand with the Australian men snatching the 2014 gold medal and world championships qualification on the buzzer.

This event provides great exposure on the world stage for Basketball Fiji with last year’s event being streamed live to an international audience of 345,978 viewers.

Official teams for the championships will be announced on October 17th, 2016.
