MIAMI (USA) – FIBA in the Americas held its Zone Executive & Zone Board meetings on April 29 in Miami. FIBA dignitaries attending the meeting included FIBA President Sheik Saud, FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis, FIBA Americas President Fabián Borro, and FIBA Americas Executive Director Carlos Alves. This was the first in-person meeting for the Americas Zone Board for the term 2023-2027.

Both meetings took place at the closing of a busy and productive first quarter of 2024, where the Regional Office in the Americas delivered some key initiatives including the FIBA AmeriCup 2025 Qualifiers, the BCL Americas Final 4 in Santiago Del Estero, Argentina, and the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belem, Brazil.

FIBA's key strategic priorities, which include Empower National Federations and Women in Basketball, as well as the strategic objectives of continuing to grow 3x3 and youth development, were key topics discussed and analyzed during both sessions.

President Mr. Borro said: “We had a great day today. The engagement of our National Federations together with the leadership of both Americas and our global team demonstrate the passion and enthusiasm for us to continue to develop and promote our game across the Americas zone. We are excited with the summer ahead where we will elevate, once again, our sport through an epic Olympics and key youth competitions.
