Chile wins South American U21 Bronze

TUNJA (Colombia) - Chile completed a comeback to defeat Uruguay 68-60 and win the Bronze Medal of the South American U21 Championship 2019 in Tunja, Colombia.

The team coached by Daniel Frola recovered from a discreet first half and turned the game around during the third quarter.

The game started evenly and hard-fought, with Chile, betting on drives to the basket and Uruguay on long shots after the fourth pass. Thus, the Charrúas managed to take a small advantage at the end of the first quarter, 19-16.

In the second quarter, Uruguay took advantage of the rival's inattentions and stretched the advantage with quick transitions and great additions from Felipe Haase. The Chileans went into half-time with a 36-28 advantage.

The second half was completely different. Chile came out with another mentality and gradually shortened the difference. Thanks to that, already in the third quarter, the team turned the score and finished up 51-48.

In the last quarter, Chile maintained the advantage, despite the great attempt of the Uruguayans to return to take the lead in the scoreboard. In the end, Chile knew how to endure the onslaught of the rival.

Again, Felipe Haase rose as a great figure for the winners with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
