ABIDJAN (Cote d'Ivoire) - The basketball season is in full swing across the continent. FIBA.basketball brings you the latest news from different parts of Africa. Here’s a look at what’s trending in African basketball.

FATOU DIAGNE SIGNS FOR UNIMED BASQUETE

After spells in Spain and Egypt, Senegal's Fatou Diagne is heading for Brazil. The Senegalese center, who played in and won the inaugural Africa Women's Basketball League with Alexandria Sporting, has signed for Unimed Basquete. She averaged 10.9 points and 8.6 rebounds per game at AWBL.

AC DJOLIBA AND STADE MALIEN WIN THE MALIAN SUPER CUPs

AC Djoliba and Stade Malien de Bamako got their seasons off to a flying start.

AC Djoliba won the women's trophy by beating Stade Malien, while les Blancs de Bamakos won the men's trophy by beating AS Real 68-49. Alima Kouyate and Mahamane Coulibaly proved to be the key players in their respective squads with 20 points each.

TUNISIA U18 NATIONAL TEAM IN CAMP

The Tunisian U18 national team is currently in training until 21 March. The coaching staff have called up 16 players, including some who played in last year's U16 AfroBasket such as Ahmed Bedoui, Hamza Masrouki and Ahmed Mechmech.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT: MALAGASY FEDERATION UNVEILS CALENDAR

With the aim of promoting and developing basketball in Madagascar, the Malagasy Basketball Federation unveiled its training schedule a few days ago. The first training course will be held for the Anosy league from 27 March to 2 April, followed by the Androy league from 4 to 10 April, and Analamanga from 22 to 28 April. In May, the Amoron'imania regional league will take its turn. The Sofia league will conclude the calendar with a session from 28 June to 4 July.

ZOUITA RETIRES FROM NATIONAL CAREER

Morocco’s skipper Abdelhakim Zouita will not suit up anymore for his country.

He announced his retirement from the Morocco national team via an Instagram post, where he reflects on his 19 year-long journey under the Moroccan uniform. He started his career with his national team at the 2009 FIBA AfroBasket and played in four other editions of the FIBA AfroBasket. He last suited up for Morocco at the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket Pre-Qualifiers. Meanwhile, he went on to win the 2023 FIBA AfroCan.

EGYPT U18 WOMEN'S TEAM IN CAMP

Egypt's U8 women's national team has kick started their preparations as they target this year's FIBA U18 Women's AfoBasket later this year. The head coach has called up some players who were present at the 2023 FIBA U16 Women's AfroBasket.

OTOBO LEAVES DYNAMO BBC

Nigerian center Israel Otobo is set to leave Dynamo BBC after serving under the team's colours for the past year. According to online media, he will be heading to Rwanda, where he will be suiting up for APR.
