FIBA - The Road Show truck lands in Bilbao

BILBAO (FIBA Basketball World Cup) - Bilbao will be the first stop of the long run of the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup Road Show truck in the Basque Country.

On Friday, Dona Casilda's park in Bilbao enjoyed the first act of the run, which included the presentation of one of the venues of the World Cup and offered a big celebration in the Road Show truck, in the presence of the authorities and of the Mayor of the city Inaki Azcuna.

The Bizkaia Arena will host fifteen games during the preliminary round of the World Cup, from the 30 August to 4 September (capacity of 15.500 people). The arena has been the stage of multiple basketball events, such as the Spanish Cup in 2010 and a NBA Global game last summer.

The Road Show truck will stay in Bilbao all weekend and will then visit San Sebastian (11-14 November) and Vitoria (15-17 November). The Basque Country is the Spanish region with the highest number of fans subscribed to basketball teams; 25.000 people support their team every weekend.

The truck, which was in Gran Canaria last month coming from Slovenia, exhibits objects such as the original Naismith Trophy or the Spalding rule-book from 1930-31.

The visitors will also enjoy six courts around the truck and a master class hosted by Spanish legend Jorge Garbajosa.

The former FIBA World Champion will attend all the cities that the Road Show truck will visit.
