Teams confirmed for the FIBA U15 Skills Challenges 2021 Regional Qualifiers

MIES (Switzerland) - The field for the FIBA U15 Skills Challenges 2021 has been finalized as 106 teams from 55 National Federations have been entered in the Regional Qualifiers for a chance to compete at the Global Challenges.

A new age category at U15 level has been created to encourage national teams to build a program at this age group, while the event also allows smaller nations to compete in a global event.

Mongolia and China were victorious in the inaugural competition's as they came out on top at the FIBA U17 Skills Challenges 2020.

Both the men's and women's events have seen an increase in the number of participants, with 55 nations represented in the men's competition and 51 in the women's event.

There are no direct entrants to the Global Skills Challenges this year and all 32 spots available at each event will have to be secured through the Qualifiers with teams split into four geographic regions of Africa,  Americas, Asia and Europe. 

The Qualifiers are set to tip off on Wednesday, April 28 in Africa and Asia with the field set to completed when Europe concludes in May. The Global Challenges will be held in October 2021.

Group A: Egypt, Gabon, Guinea, Democratic Republic of the Congo
Group B: Angola, Madagascar, Uganda, Cameroon, Zambia
Group C: Tunisia, Rwanda, Morocco, Central African Republic, Zimbabwe

Dates: April 28-May 2, 2021

The top two in each group advance to the FIBA U15 Skills Challenge 2021.

Americas Qualifiers

Group A: Argentina, Panama, Colombia, Jamaica, Nicaragua
Group B: Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Ecuador, Guatemala, Suriname
Group C: Dominican Republic, Virgin Islands, Aruba, El Salvador

Dates: May 5-9, 2021

The top two in each group and the two best third-ranked teams advance to the FIBA U15 Skills Challenge 2021.

Group B: China, Syria, Tahiti
Group C: New Zealand, Iraq, Mongolia
Group D: Iran, Lebanon, Guam, Samoa
