Lausanne to host FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2025

MIES (Switzerland) - FIBA has confirmed that the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2025 will take place in the city of Lausanne in Switzerland. The event will be played from June 28 to July 6, 2025. 

Swiss Basketball was awarded the hosting rights of the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2025 in November 2022 and selected, with the approval of FIBA, the City of Lausanne, the Olympic Capital, and the State of Vaud, to host the competition after a domestic bid process. The State of Vaud is the home of the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball, FIBA's Headquarters.

The FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup will offer a unique opportunity for Switzerland to see the world's best young talents perform at the highest international level, with this major event joining a long list of international sporting events that have been held in Lausanne. This includes the most recent, an annual stop of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour, the Grand Final of the World Triathlon Championship Series in 2019, the Winter Youth Olympic Games in 2020 and a stage finish of the Tour de France 2022.

The 2023 edition of the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup is currently being played in Debrecen, Hungary, with the USA looking to defend their title.  All games are live on FIBA's Youtube Channel and on NextGenHoops Facebook page.
