Ukraine must overcome injury crisis

KIEV (EuroBasket Women 2015) - Ukraine head coach Vadim Czeczuro has had to deal with an injury crisis in recent months and, even on the eve of EuroBasket Women 2015, has had more bad luck come his way.

With several of his big hitters such as Oleksandra Kurasova, Valeriya Berezhynska and Olesia Malashenko having already been ruled out, the play-caller has also now lost rising star Vita Gorobets to an injury.

It means that Alina Iagupova will carry even more weight on her shoulders, with the former FIBA Europe Young Women's Player of the Year the headline name on the final list. She was the leader in points, rebounds, assists and steals during qualification.

Set to face France, Czech Republic, Romania and Montenegro in Group A, Czeczuro will be looking to Oleksandra Khomenchuk to anchor the paint, with the center having played in EuroLeague Women for Agu Spor Kulubu.

Meanwhile, there will be some excitement at the potential of Tetiana Antoniuk, who averaged a tournament double-double at the U20 European Championship Women last summer and will make the transition to the senior level.

Ukraine final roster for EuroBasket Women 2015: Tetyana Antoniuk, Arina Bilotserkivska, Katerina Dorogobuzova, Olga Dubrovina, Alina Iagupova, Oleksandra Khomenchuk, Viktoria Mircheva, Kateryna Rymarenko, Olena Samburska, Viktoria Shamtova, Nataliya Skorbatyuk, Ievgeniia Spitkovska.
