Mixed news for Greek fans ahead of EuroBasket Women 2015

ATHENS (EuroBasket Women 2015) - There was mixed news for Greece as EuroBasket Women 2009 MVP Evanthia Maltsi lost her fitness battle but the hugely exciting Maria Fasoula has grabbed a Final Round debut at EuroBasket Women 2015.

Maltsi had agreed to reverse her previous decision to retire and intended to head to Hungary and Romania, but a shoulder injury which she sustained in the Turkish League has not healed in time to link up with the team.

At the other end of the career spectrum, head coach George Dikeoulakos has thrown a senior opportunity to 17-year-old rising star Fasoula.

One of the highest rated young players in Europe, the center will be given court time since Greece aren't blessed with a big frontcourt rotation.

They will rely primarily on EuroLeague Women duo Zoi Dimitrakou and Styliani Kaltsidou, along with the highly-rated Artemis Spanou who was a teenager when she played in 2011.

The two players who missed out and became the final cuts were Anna Spyridopoulou and Tania Chalivera.

Greece final roster for EuroBasket Women 2015: Olga Chatzinikolaou, Eleanna Christinaki, Zoi Dimitrakou, Mariella Fasoula, Natassa Gkotzi, Stella Kaltsidou, Afroditi Kosma, Lolita Lymoura, Angeliki Nikolopoulou, Pelagia Papamichail, Katerina Sotiriou, Artemis Spanou.
