MKD - Rabotnicki and MZT Skopje starts playoffs with advantage
SKOPJE (Superliga) - Rabotnicki will defend the title from No. 1 spot in playoffs. Although the Champs secure starting pool couple of rounds before, it was more than crucial to win last league game against arch rival MZT Skopje and equalize season series to 2-2. Now in eventual finals, these teams will starts from 0-0, after MZT's failure to keep advantage and have starting 1-0 against Rabotnicki for first time ever.
However, MZT Skopje will have starting 1-0, but in playoffs semifinal against Vardar, deserved after winning season series with 3-1. Rabotnicki will also have starting advantage against Pelister, after winning in all four games against team from Bitola. First round in the playoffs starts on April 22, semifinal series goes to three wins, finals in series best of seven.
In playout league, Mavrovo and Crn Drim avoid direct relegation, after taking first and second place. Mavrovo will play Feni Industry form Kavadarci and Crn Drim Struga against Talent AND 1 from Skopje, two best placed second league teams. Playout starts on April 22, series goes to two wins. Winners of the matchups next year will play in First League of 8 teams, and losing teams, together with relegated Centar and Veles, will play in second league.
Next Thursday (April 13) Macedonian southeastern city of Strumica will host Basketball Cup tournament, first time in system of Final 8. In first round MZT Skopje and Vardar will have general testing for playoffs semis matchup, other games are: Strumica - Pelister, Rabotnicki - Feni Industry and Toa Sum Jas - Centar.
