KEN - FIBA Africa sends Egyptian instructor for regional clinic

NAIROBI (Referees clinic) - Egyptian instructor will conduct a four day referees clinic in Nairobi for the regional whistlers, Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) has revealed.

Agina Wesonga, the KBF chairman said that the instructor, Megid has been send by FIBA Africa for the excercise that will be used to grade top referees in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and Somalia.

He said that only referees who will be succesful will be given a chance to participate in an international clinic to will be held in Nairobi in August.

"We want all our referees to attend this very important event. And we want to make it clear that only those who will succeed here will be given a chance for another one that will accord them international status." said Agina.

In a related development, six foreign teams have confirmed participation in the fourth coming East and Central Africa club champions slated for Nairobi next week.

According to regional body assistant secretary, Ronny Owino, from Uganda are A1 Challenge and Nkumba Marines, JKT men and women will come from Tanzania
while APR men and women will represent Rwanda.

Owino also said that Lady Bucks from Uganda could come as the second women's side while information are still being awaited from Burundi and Zanzibar.

Kenya will be represented in the event by five teams. They are defending men and women champions KCB Lions and Sprite Storms.

Others are national men and women champions Ulinzi Warriors and Kenya Ports Authority (KPA). Co-operative Bank of Kenya is the other team entered for the
tournament.
