Start of EuroBasket 2015 set to be officially declared

ZAGREB (EuroBasket 2015) - President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic and FIBA Europe President Turgay Demirel are set to jointly declare EuroBasket 2015 open in the Croatian capital Zagreb on Thursday evening.

President Grabar-Kitarovic and Demirel will be joined by other dignitaries for the official ceremony which begins at 20:30 CET time in Zagreb's main square, Trg bana Josipa Jelacica, including Zagreb City Mayor Milan Bandic; Representative of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia and Minister of Science, Education and Sports, Vedran Mornar; and Croatian Basketball Federation President Ivan Suker.

For the first time in history, EuroBasket will be hosted by more than one country with the Group Phase taking place from 5-10 September in Berlin, Germany; Montpellier, France; Riga, Latvia; and Zagreb.

The French city of Lille will play host to the Final Phase in the 27,000-seat Pierre Mauroy Stadium from 12-20 September.

This unique hosting situation has led to an unprecedented number of ticket sales, with a multitude of games sold out and a number of others having limited number of tickets remaining.

All games will be broadcast online via livebasketball.tv*, as well via FIBA's television broadcast partners around the world. For a full list of FIBA's EuroBasket 2015 broadcast partners, please click here.**
