Groups drawn for new season of EuroLeague Women and EuroCup Women

MUNICH (EuroLeague Women/EuroCup Women) - The draw for the new season of EuroLeague Women and EuroCup Women took place in Munich, Germany on Saturday.

More than 85 club and national federation delegates attended the proceedings.

EuroLeague Women
The Regular Season will feature two groups of eight teams each with the four clubs finishing in the top four places advancing to the Quarter-Final playoffs. The fifth- and sixth-placed teams will still have a chance for European silverware as they will join EuroCup Women.

In EuroLeague Women, defending champions ZVVZ USK Prague were drawn into Regular Season Group B together with last season's runners-up UMMC Ekaterinburg.

The two Turkish powerhouses from Istanbul, Fenerbahce and Galatasaray will both feature in Group A, alongside Dynamo Kursk of Russia, the third team from last season's Final Four.

Group A will also feature the winner of the Qualification Round game over two legs between Avenida and Brno which will take place over two legs on 29 September and 2 October.

The new season will start on 14 October.

The Final Four is scheduled to take place on 15-17 April 2016.

EuroCup Women
Thirty three clubs have registered for the upcoming EuroCup Women season.

Twenty nine clubs were divided into two Conferences and were drawn into eight Regular Season groups of four teams each while two more clubs will join from the Qualification Round that features four teams.

The top two team from the Group will advance to the Last 16 stage. 

Group A features former EuroLeague Women winners Sparta&K Moscow Region and two Turkish clubs, Besiktas and Adana.

Group B pitches two Russian clubs Chevakata and Enisey against another Turkish club, Edirnerspor.

In Group C, Valosun Brno can potentially face city rivals BK Brno if the latter fail to progress to the EuroLeague Women Regular Season from the Qualification Round.

The Qualification Round  of the EuroCup Women over two legs (home and away) will take place on 8 and 15 October.

The new season will start on 29 October.

The Final over two legs (home and away) is scheduled for 6 and 13 April 2016.
