FIBA's new Finance Commission first meeting of 2019-2023 cycle

MIES (Switzerland) - With FIBA's new Commissions, Working Groups and Task Forces announced in September this year, following the first Central Board meeting in China, the Finance Commission met this week at the Patrick Baumann House of Basketball to commence the new working cycle. FIBA President Hamane Niang was also present at today's meeting.

The duties of the FIBA Finance Commission are to review and recommend the draft budget for submission and prepare financial statements for approval, analyze and recommend approval of the auditor's report to the Central Board and also recommend financial investment policies. 

With the review of the 2018 accounts presented to the new commission plus the 2019 forecast, the main focus of the meeting was the FIBA budget of 2020 and the planning of 2021 - 2023.  

Ingo Weiss, FIBA's Treasurer and the Chairman of the Finance Commission said: "I am pleased to be chairing such a competent Finance Commission for the next four-year cycle. It is fascinating to have input from people from all over the world, from different sized federations, from different professions, with different ideas, but all with a targeted view on growing basketball. I am confident that this commission will work together cohesively to enhance the financial status of FIBA over the next four years."
