USA - Bosh, Bargnani lead Raptors in thrashing of Heat

TORONTO (NBA) - The Toronto Raptors delivered a first-quarter knockout of the Heat in Miami on Monday.

The NBA's lone Canadian team outscored its hosts 33-12 in the first period in rolling to a 114-82 win.

Team USA's Chris Bosh poured in 24 points and Italy international Andrea Bargnani scored 22 for the Raptors.

Bosh was eight of 11 from the floor and eight of nine at the line while Bargnani drilled nine of 14 from the field, including two of four from long range.

Jose Calderon of Spain made five of six shots and scored 11 points while also handing out 10 assists, and former Euroleague MVP Anthony Parker, the brother of USA women's star Candace Parker, scored 18.

The Heat, NBA champions two seasons ago, dropped to a woeful  9-37.

The New Orleans Hornets found the going tough in Salt Lake City, falling 110-88.

Kyle Korver drilled six of eight shots from behind the arc and as a team, Utah were 14 of 22.

Allen Iverson buried a jump shot in the final second of overtime to lift the Denver Nuggets to victory at the Portland Trail Blazers.

Team USA captain Carmelo Anthony led the Nuggets with 28 points, while Iverson had 25.

Lithuania international Linas Kleiza finished with 15 points for Denver.

Turkey's Hedo Turkoglu had a triple-double - 13 points, 13 assists and 12 rebounds but it wasn't enough to lead the Orlando Magic to victory at home against the Dallas Mavericks.

Beaten like a drum in Detroit on Sunday, the Mavs hit back with a vengeance to record a 107-98 win.

Germany's Dirk Nowitzki scored 20 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished out five assists for the Mavs, who improved to 32-15.

Orlando have been impressive this season, but they slipped to 31-19.

Luis Scola and Yao Ming fired the Houston Rockets to their 28th victory of the season on Monday with a win at Minnesota.

Argentinian rookie Scola had 11 points and eight rebounds, and China national team center Yao Ming finished with 16 points and five boards as Houston prevailed, 92-86.

Houston are now 28-20 while Minnesota, who got 33 points and 16 rebounds from Al Jefferson, dropped to 10-37.

Another Argentina star, Andres Nocioni, connected on four shots from three-point range to help the Chicago Bulls prevail 118-108 at Seattle.

In other games, the Phoenix Suns cruised to a 118-104 win at the Charlotte Bobcats, the New York Knicks fell at the Los Angeles Clippers 103-94 and the Atlanta Hawks won at home over the Philadelphia 76ers, 96-91.
