TUN - Captain sits out wednesday training

VALMIERA (2011 FIBA U19 World Championship) - Minnows Tunisia have been dealt a potentially major blow ahead of the FIBA U19 World Championships with star player and team captain Omar Abada an uncertainty to take the court in tomorrow's opening game against Poland.

Just over a week out from the tournament, Abada was involved in a car accident with his father, sustaining various injuries including a large cut to his left leg which required 34 stitches.

Despite Abada’s non-participation in training on Wednesday, Tunisian head trainer Ben Ameur Khelil told fiba.com that he is remaining hopeful that he will be ready in time.

The young point guard plays for E.S.R Rades in Tunisia’s top tier basketball competition and is considered one of the brightest young talents in Tunisian basketball.

Tunisia will play their opening match against Poland on Thursday afternoon at 13:45 (11:45 GMT).
