NGR - Umar leads news NBBF task-force

LAGOS (Nigerian Federation) - Nigeria sports policy making body, The National Sports Commission, NSC, recently constituted a stop-gap body to see to the running of basketball in the country after the dissolution of sports federations’ penultimate Thursday.

The body known as ‘Task Force’ is saddled with the responsibility of playing the role of a board before the composition of a real board whose date is yet to be made public by the NSC.

The Task Force headed by former Nigeria international and board member of the recently dissolved board, Tijjani Umar will host its inaugural meeting later today to fashion out a marshal plan for the game in the country.

The 10-man committee also has Col. Sam Ahmedu (rtd), Muktar Khaleh, Vivian Eze, Yusuf Tagwai, Kunle Raji, Mustapha Sulaiman and Masai Ujiri.

Others include, Isah Umar, Syndoph Paebi Endoni with Segun Oguntade making a return to the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF to serve as Secretary.

Committee Coordinator, Umar promised that the Task Force will discharge its duty with all sincerity with a view to moving the game forward in the country.

Umar who represented the North Central zone on the board of the last board where he also serve as the Head of Media/ Publicity sub-committee is optimistic that the task force will achieve its set objective as he called on all stake-holders to rally round the committee in the onerous task of not letting the game down.
