MKD - Rabotnicki wins in play-off finals

SKOPJE (Superliga) - Rabotnicki are the champions of FYR Macedonia for the 13th time in 14 years after beating Vardar in the title series for the second year running.

Rabotnicki swept Pelister Bitola 3-0 in the semi-finals to set up another showdown with Vardar and they captured the crown with a 4-1 victory over Vardar.

Rabotnicki started the championship showdown with a 1-0 lead due to their three victories in four games over Vardar during the regular season.

Vardar, who won over MZT Skopje to reach the finals, levelled the series with a victory in Game One at Rabotnicki.

The next game was played in Kumanovo, 35 kilometers from Skopje, with Vardar choosing once more to have their home clash out of Skopje (they had done the same thing in the semi-finals against MZT Skopje).

Kumanovo was not a lucky venue this time, however, as Rabotnicki prevailed to take a 2-1 lead.

Unlike the first two games, Rabotnicki took big leads early and maintained the comfortable advantage to seal the title.

Ognen Stojanovski, Rabotnicki's young guard, was outstanding in Games Two and Three.

Excellent shooter Dime Tasovski was voted MVP of the finals.

The only club to interrupt Rabotnicki's dominant stretch is Nikolfert Gostivar, the title winners in 2000.
