CHN - Guangdong stay on the pace

SHANGHAI (CBA) - Guangdong maintained their place at the top of the CBA after a 117-109 victory over fifth-placed Dongguan.

Wang Shipeng poured in 25 points and pulled down three rebounds as Guangdong improved their season record to 17-2.

They remain level at the top with Xinjiang who saw off plucky Shandong 99-88 to keep up their challenge at the summit.

David Jackson scored 26 points and had four assists for Xinjiang, but the best individual performance of the round came from Jilin's DaJuan Tate.

Tate grabbed a mammoth 68 points to help them beat Yuannan 133-124, for whom Nigel Dixon was also on top form, scoring 46 and grabbing 16 rebounds.

Despite 22 points from Zhai Jinshuai, Shanxi Zhongyu lost 110-88 to Fujian and remain at the bottom of the pile.

Elsewhere, Bayi beat Beijing 92-83, Liaoning saw off Shanxi Dongsheng 107-97, Jiangsu ran out 98-87 winners over Zhejiang Wanma and Zhejiang Guansha defeated Shanghai 122-107.
