CHI - Provincial cruise to derby win

VALDIVIA (Libsur) - Provincial Osorno claimed a thumping 118-78 win in the derby match at Deportivo Valdivia to stay top of Group A in Chile's Libsur league.

Erick Carrasco netted 20 points for Carlos Schwarzenberg's men, while Pablo Coro Oyarzo, Pablo Coro Quitral and Marcelo Hernandez each contributed with 19 points.

It was an important result for Osorno after suffering elimination from the Liga Sudamericana quarter-finals at the hands of Ben Hur.

Carrasco said: "We are playing with confidence. It's not for short periods, but constantly during the whole game."

The win was Osorno's fourth in as many games, and keeps them clear of Deportes Ancud, who saw off Provincial Llanquihue 86-69.

Eduardo Sepulveda netted 19 points for the winners, with Patricio Arroyo contributing 17.

Deportes Castro, meanwhile, claimed a 90-78 win over Nueva Imperial, thanks to 26 points from Juan Videla.

Universidad Los Lagos lead Group B with eight points from four games after an 88-57 win over Las Animas on Saturday night.

Haralt Funk claimed 14 points for the Puerto Montt-based side, who hold a two-point a lead over a group of three teams all on six points - Deportivo Espanol, Deportes Lautaro and Calbuco.

Deportivo Espanol edged Calbuco 79-75, while Deportes Lautaro hit rock-bottom Carahue 93-78.
