AUS – Batkovic-Brown out with knee injury

SYDNEY (2010 FIBA World Championship for Women) – Australia center Suzy Batkovic-Brown has hit the sidelines for at least a month after suffering a knee injury while playing for WNBL side ACUVUE Sydney Uni Flames.

The two-time Olympian got hurt in her side’s win at Townsville last weekend.

Doctors have thankfully revealed she does not have any major damage to ligaments or to the structure of her knee.

"Injuries are part of being an elite athlete, but it is tough not to be on the floor as our team gets ready for the play-offs," she said.

"Our team has overcome injury setbacks all year, so I'm confident that we will be able to step up against Perth this weekend and then move into the play-offs with confidence.”

The last round of the regular season will be played this weekend.

Batkovic-Brown is expected to be in the Opals squad when they play at the 2010 FIBA World Championship for Women later this year in the Czech Republic.
