OLAVARRIA (South American Championship) - Argentina forward Leonardo Gutierrez will sit out training on Monday after suffering a recurrence of a back injury.

Gutierrez, who is the only Olympic champion in Argentina's preliminary South American Championship squad, will undergo a scan to determine the extend of the injury, which also troubled him during the FIBA Americas Championships in the Dominican Republic last year.

Coach Sergio Hernandez is confident the Boca Juniors man will be fit for the South American Championships in Venezuela, which commence on July 11.

"The injury was sustained during a simple exercise of individual technique. He wanted to make a movement towards the basket and he felt some pain." said Hernandez.

"This is not a new problem for Leo, but we're confident he will get to the South American Championship without any problems."

Argentina will play two friendly games against Uruguay on Tuesday and Wednesday in Olavarria, and Hernandez added: "If Leo is not fit, we won't risk him."
