AUS - Cambage eager to play for Opals again

MELBOURNE (Olympics) - Liz Cambage got the opportunity to play for Australia at the 2010 FIBA World Championship for Women as a teenager and last summer, the 2.03m center competed in the WNBA for the first time with Tulsa.

Now, with her Bulleen Boomers campaign over, the 20-year-old Cambage can turn her full attention to the London Games.

She is just months away from making her Olympic bow.

"I can't wait,” Cambage said to WNBL TV.

“I just want it to come already.”

Cambage, who was speaking during the WNBL play-offs, hasn’t had it all her own way since leading Australia to a fifth-place finish at the World Championship.

Her Bulleen Boomers fell in the Grand Final to Dandenong Rangers.

In the WNBA, Tulsa won just three of their 34 games.

"I loved being in the WNBA but hated losing all of those games,” she said.

“I learned so much while I was there and I'm ready to take what I learned to the Olympics.”

When asked how things have changed for her in the past year, Cambage said she is “a year older, a little bit wiser.”

“I think I'm a little bit better defensively, offensively as well.

“Always improving as the years roll on.”
