ZARAGOZA (Spain) - Belgian legend Ann Wauters has been handed the EuroLeague Women Legacy Award, presented by Azulmarino in appreciation of her outstanding accomplishments in the competition.
That is no better illustrated by the fact that the Belgium is not only top of the modern era chart for scoring with a jaw-dropping 3,771 points, but is also the leading rebounder too with an amazing 1,876 boards to her name.
Wauters stepped out in 271 games during her EuroLeague Women career - the second highest number of appearances of any player.
She also showed her value on both ends of the floor by grabbing 280 steals (19th) and dishing out 415 dimes (32nd).
A colossus in the frontcourt with her finishing ability and smarts, she demonstrated such impressive longevity in a career that spanned almost two decades in the competition and harvested plenty of silverware.
Debuting in 1999 for US Valenciennes Olympic and last appearing during the 2017-18 season with Yakin Dogu Universitesi, Wauters also suited up for VBM-SGAU, BC Volgaburmash, CSKA Moscow, UMMC Ekaterinburg, Ros Casares, Galatasaray and Castors Braine.
She won the first of four titles in 2002 with US Valenciennes Olympic - also taking the French team to glory in 2004.
Then, despite making the switch to Russia to represent VBM-SGAU, she showed how important she was by winning it 12 months later. Her last title success came in 2012 with Spanish side, Ros Casares.
The award was presented by Alberto Martinez Guerra, Ubico Sports Director.
