Is Canadian rock Kayla Alexander the MVP of Group B?

SYDNEY (Australia) - She's averaging a FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup double-double, but big numbers are only part of the story for Canadian forward Kayla Alexander who's looked like the MVP of Group B.

Right from the outset, Canada head coach Victor Lapena has regularly spoken about the influence off Alexander not just in terms of her contributions on the court, but also in the locker room.

She may not be as vocal as some ballers, but Lapena has constantly explained that when she does talk, her teammates and the staff are hanging on her every word.

It is that level of respect that is the important substance and sub-plot to her scoring and rebounding prowess that has been pivotal to Canada finishing their Group B campaign 4-1. Alexander is leading by example in every way.

She is averaging 10.2 points and 11.4 rebounds per game, also leading Canada by some distance in efficiency (20.0, 4th best in the World Cup) helped by the fact she has also handed out 2.2 assists per outing.

And, if she continues her rich vein of form, could it result in Canada ending up on that coveted podium come Saturday night?
