TTT Riga take Fenerbahce scalp, Sopron bounce back, UMMC march on

MUNICH (EuroLeague Women) - TTT Riga once again grabbed the EuroLeague Women headlines as they claimed another famous success on Thursday evening, while Sopron and UMMC also enjoyed that winning feeling.

The return to the competition has proved to be highly fruitful so far for TTT Riga after they recorded yet another memorable evening by claiming the significant scalp of Turkish powerhouse, Fenerbahce.


They now have a terrific 4-2 success after a pulsating 68-64 triumph in the Latvian capital, with Sheylani Peddy once again the driving force. She finished with a vibrant 23 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals to condemn the visitors to a third loss of the season.

Meanwhile Sopron Basket are now 3-3 after they sunk Hatay in Antakya, with Aleksandra Crvendakic posting her highest tally of the season to date. She accumulated 15 points in a 56-66 victory that witnessed Queralt Casas make her debut for the Hungarian side in the wake of her recent switch from Carolo Basket.


There was also 10 assists for Yvonne Turner, while Zsofia Fegyverneky and Candice Dupree shot nicely, posting 15 and 16 points, respectively. 

After the contest, veteran guard Fegyverneky paid tribute to her team's work and said: "Hatay being able to score only 56 points on their home court says it all about our defense.

"I think we have just posted our best performance of the season so far and we are very happy!"

Reigning champions UMMC Ekaterinburg heaped yet more misery on Famila Schio via a 68-82 success on Italian soil to move to 6-0, while their opponents continue their search for a first victory.

UMMC playcaller Miguel Mendez and Courtney Vandersloot enjoyed wins against their ex-employers, although it was Brittney Griner who shone most brightly with 21 points ad 8 rebounds.
