Monday’s Top 5 Players at the FIBA Asia Challenge 2016

TEHRAN (FIBA Asia Challenge 2016) - China, Chinese Taipei, Iran and Korea all continued undefeated after Day 4 in the FIBA Asia Challenge 2016 in Tehran, Iran, while Jordan and Japan kept in step of the leaders with separate victories.

FIBA.com presents the Top 5 performers from Monday’s contests in Tehran.

Hu Jinqiu
The 18-year-old never ceases to impress. With his 2.10m frame, Hu towered over Gilas Pilipinas in China’s 75-65 win in Group E. Hu put up 21 points and 7 rebounds while shooting 8-of-13 from the field for another dominant performance. He has increased his scoring output as each game has passed, serving notice that he is among the most promising young talents in the continent.

Liu Cheng
After struggling against the Philippines yesterday, Liu had his best game of the tournament yet versus Kazakhstan. The former SBL MVP was in sharp form, hitting 9 of his 14 field goal attempts, including nailing 2 three-pointers, en route to 28 points on top of 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal. Chinese Taipei will need more of that from Liu if they are to continue their strong showing in the competition.

Quincy Davis
Kazakhstan managed to hold Davis down to his lowest scoring output of the tournament thus far - 14 points, but that doesn’t mean the 2.03m big man had a bad game. On the contrary, Davis was still able to contribute in many areas. He grabbed 5 boards, handed out 5 assists, blocked 2 shots and had 1 steal as Taipei cruised past the Kazakhs.

Mohammad Shaher Hussein
The 2.06m Jordanian center had always looked on the verge of stardom these past few years, and he showed a glimpse of that brilliance in Al Nashama’s win over India. The 26-year-old big man recorded 13 points and 9 rebounds in just 20 minutes of action. He outplayed Indian counterpart Amritpal Singh and served notice that Jordan would be a force to reckon with for the remainder of this event.

Dar Tucker
Hussein got a ton of help from Tucker in Jordan’s victory over India. The 28-year-old naturalized American shot 7-of-13 from the field to finish with 17 points while also hauling down 6 boards and notching 5 assists. With some of Jordan’s veteran point guards not in the roster for this competition, the onus has been on Tucker to be the team’s main playmaker, and he has not disappointed.
