SHENZHEN (China) - Alexandra Fowler made her first-ever stint with Australia memorable by earning Most Valuable Player honors in the FIBA Women's Asia Cup 2025, Sunday night at the Shenzhen Sports Centre.
The 23-year-old Women's Asia Cup debutante bagged the award as she registered a tournament-leading 20.0 efficincy rating on the back of 11.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 60.0% from the field. Fowler scored in double-figures for each of the Opals' games, underscoring her consistency and effectiveness.
She had a huge double-double in the Semi-Finals against Korea, putting up 11 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and an eye-popping 5 steals. She then followed that up with yet another solid outing the Final, finishing with 15 points on top of 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block.
In winning the award, Fowler bannered the All-Star Five composed of Australia teammate Stephanie Reid, Korea's Park JiHyun, China's Han Xu and Japan's Kokoro Tanaka.
Reid was a playmaking wizard, handing out a tournament-leading 7.4 assists in addition to 11.2 points and 2.0 three-pointers per game.
Park was also impressive all throughout, scoring 14.2 points while hitting 1.7 three-pointers per game. She also tallied 5.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.2 steals per contest.
Han was an all-around piece for China, putting up norms of 14.8 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.4 blocks per game while making 52.5% of her field goals.
Tanaka, meanwhile, was a true sensation and averaged 14.8 points, 5.5 assists and 1.2 steals per contest. She also shot 48.4% from beyond the arc, sinking 2.5 triples per game.
