Estonia lose to Czechia, but still advance
Czechia scored a narrow 75-73 home triumph over Estonia in a tightly contested Group H to keep their hopes alive. Despite the loss, the Estonians have still qualified for the Second Round.
Ondrej Sehnal led the hosts with 15 points, and his three-pointer with 9 seconds left ultimately settled the game. But they must wait and hope that Slovenia can beat Sweden later on in order to punch their own ticket.
Stefan Vaaks and Maik-Kalev Kotsar had 19 apiece for Estonia.
Poland flawless, beat Netherlands to finish 6-0; Latvia breeze past Austria to qualify
Poland were made to work hard, but a strong third quarter saw them defeat a stubborn Netherlands side 92-84 in Krakow in a game that saw a whopping 30 lead changes.
Taking a slender two-point lead at the half, the Poles raced clear in the third before hanging on in the fourth. Kamil Laczynski contributed 18 points for the victors. Keye van der Vuurst was outstanding for the Dutch, with 26 points and 9 assists, as they also advanced to the next phase.
Latvia have finally booked their ticket to the Second Round in convincing fashion by beating Austria 112-66 in Riga.
The game was closely contested in the first 20 minutes before the hosts outscored Austria 30-9 to secure a sizable win, where they drilled 17 triples. Martins Laksa led the Latvians with 20 points, hitting six of those three-pointers. Nordin Kapic had 19 for Austria.
Türkiye reign supreme over Switzerland
Already qualified Türkiye ended their First Round adventure with a comfortable 95-72 success over winless Switzerland in a Group B encounter in Istanbul.
Omer Yurtseven paced Türkiye with 18 points on 6-for-7 shooting, with Alperen Sengun adding 17 as they march on to the Second Round. Alexander Schumacher had a game-high 23 points for the Swiss.
Hungary get the better of Belgium in Group G
Hungary outbattled Belgium 85-70 in their final Group G battle, with the Hungarians already moving on to the Second Round and their Belgian counterparts now preparing for the upcoming FIBA EuroBasket 2029 Qualifiers.
The evergreen Zoltan Perl led the way for Hungary, shooting 3-for-4 from three-point land to finish with 19 points and 4 assists. The trio of Zaccharie Mortant, Andy van Vliet and Aubin Gateretse had 10 points for the visitors.
