Gomez gives opportunity to new faces for Qualifiers as Halvarsson returns

STOCKHOLM (FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2019 Qualifiers) - Sweden are to hand some new players an opportunity to impress in next month's FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2019 Qualifiers, as they also welcome back Louice Halvarsson  from maternity leave.

Head Coach Francois Gomez will select from 15 players as Sweden try to build on two wins in last November's first Qualifying window.

Sweden 15-player squad for FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2019 Qualifiers
Farhiya Abdi  Anna Barthold Binta Drammeh Elin Eldebrink
Frida Eldebrink  Nathalie Fontaine Danielle Hamilton-Carter  Louice Halvarsson
Paula Juhlin Elin Ljunggren Kalis Loyd Klara Lundquist
Ellen Nystrom Martina Stalvant Amanda Zahui

Determined to advance, having missed out on the Final Round in 2017, there are places for Elin Ljunggren and Paula Juhlin in a list that also sees a return for the popular center, Louice Halvarsson, after a two-year absence due to injury and then becoming a mother.

Sweden will continue to rely on their star players including multiple EuroLeague Women performers such as Amanda Zahui, Farhiya Abdi and and Elin Eldebrink.

Sweden will play Italy and Croatia in a fiercely competitive group, with February's fixtures looking like they will go a long way to determining whether Sweden make it to Latvia and Serbia next year.

The team got off to a great start by winning in Croatia and then beating MKD on home soil.
