Exciting Sweden squad underlines potential

STOCKHOLM (FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2019 Qualifiers) - Sweden have announced an exciting squad including several EuroLeague Women stars for next month's FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2019 Qualifiers.

New head coach Francois Gomez will have 17 players to choose from as Sweden look to advance to Latvia and Serbia, having missed out on the Final Round at the 2017 edition.

There is certainly plenty of potential for the Sweden playcaller to draw upon, including WNBA powerhouse center Amanda Zahui, the athletic Farhiya Abdi and the backcourt sister act of Elin and Frida Eldebrink.

Veteran warrior Anna Barthold remains on board and her experience will be welcomed both on and off the floor, while at the other end of the spectrum, Klara Lundquist is included too. She is one of the most highly-rated teenagers in Europe and has turned heads with her devastating displays and scoring ability at youth level.

Sweden will play in Group H along with Italy, but during the first Qualifiers window, will tip-off their campaign in Zagreb against Croatia, then host the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
