Brazil stick with familiar core for U19 Women's Worlds

RIO DE JANEIRO (2015 FIBA U19 Women's World Championship) - Brazil have gone for a familiar line-up after revealing their initial candidate list for the FIBA U19 Women's World Championship.

Head coach Guilherme Vos has chosen most of the players who finished fourth at the FIBA Americas U18 Women's Championship, in an addition to several contenders who stepped out at the FIBA U17 Women’s World Championship in Czech Republic last year.

There will be excitement around the likes of Aline De Moura, who both top scored and grabbed more rebounds than anyone else on the roster in Klatovy, Czech Republic and she is likely to shine in the paint alongside Gabriela Guimaraes, who starred in Colorado Springs, USA.

"The criteria for selection was based on a conversation of the Technical Commission, along with coaches of the various teams," said Vos.

"We have taken into account the previous selections because as we have limited time to prepare, we are investing in players who have worn the [Brazil] shirt before.

"We are also inviting Rebecca Moura, who was born in the United States but has dual nationality.

"We like the videos we have seen of her games, but we need to analyse her performance within the group.

"We have a cast of great potential and talent - I'm sure all the girls will be committed to help and will devote themselves to the cause."

Brazil will play in Group A against Australia, Korea and Serbia.

Brazil preliminary roster for 2015 FIBA U19 Women's World Championship: Bianca Araujo Da Silva, Kananda Benedicto, Jennifer Calixto, Susan Cortes, Aline Da Moura, Lays Da Silva, Mariane De Carvalho, Mariana Dias, Vitoria Domingos, Tayna Dos Reis, Gabriela Guimaraes, Leticia Josefino, Rebecca Moura, Thayna Silva, Monique Soares Pereira.
