Comeback Queens Poland Ready For Road Test

NAMUR (FIBA EuroBasket Women 2017 Qualifiers) - Having posted a stunning fightback against neighbours Belarus to tip-off their FIBA EuroBasket Women 2017 qualifying campaign with a famous victory, Poland will now brace themselves for a backlash.

Head coach Teodor Mollov and his players had looked doomed during his opening game at the helm, but a jaw-dropping rescue mission came to fruition as Poland posted a monumental 19-1 final quarter to ride out 65-56 winners.

Leaving a decidedly bitter taste in the mouth of their opponents, Belarus will no doubt be eager to extract revenge when the nations resume their derby rivalry in this second qualifying window on 24 February in Minsk.

But before Poland can think about quelling that potential Belarus backlash, they must firstly head to Namur to lock horns with a Belgium team looking for their first win in the three-team group and buoyed by the return of the legendary Ann Wauters.

Poland will once again rely on the experience of EuroLeague Women duo Ewelina Kobryn and Justyna Zurowska-Cegielska in the paint and their contributions will be pivotal.

That's because they will come up against two of the classiest frontcourt partnerships in the European game across both contests as they first face Wauters and Emma Meesseman, followed by Yelena Leuchanka and Anastasiya Verameyenka.

Poland's 15-player roster:

Weronika Idczak, Agnieszka Kaczmarczyk, Ewelina Kobryn, Martyna Koc, Aneta Kotnis, Julie McBride, Malgorzata Misiuk, Aldona Morawiec, Dominika Owczarzak, Aleksandra Pawlak, Agnieszka Skobel, Angelika Stankiewicz, Magdalena Szajtauer, Agnieszka Snieżek, Justyna Zurowska-Cegielska.
