Third #FBWC 2019 Tissot countdown clock unveiled in Nanjing

NANJING (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019) - Nanjing on Tuesday became the third of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019's eight host cities to reveal a Tissot countdown clock.

The unveiling ceremony took place in the city's Hexi Wanda Plaza and brought together FIBA officials - including FIBA Asia Chairman Xin Lancheng - representatives of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) Leadership who were joined by leaders of Nanjing's municipal government and bureau of sport, as well as one from Jiangsu Sports Bureau.

Also on hand for this milestone event on the Road to China 2019 was Hu Xuefeng, a former Chinese national team player and Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) legend and youth basketball players who put on performances and took part in a 3x3 game.

Burton Shipley, Chair Coordination Commission of the FIBA Basketball World Cup China 2019, said: "Nanjing was the very first China 2019 host city to serve as a backdrop for a (FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Asian) Qualifiers home game of the Chinese national team. The city's sporting pedigree also includes hosting the Youth Olympic Games in 2014. Additionally, it is steeped in great history and of great cultural importance as one of the six famous ancient capitals of China. As such, there is a lot here for players, teams, home fans and visiting fans to enjoy their time in Nanjing next summer."

As well as the countdown clock being revealed, the ceremony saw Nanjing being presented a FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 commemorative plaque in recognition of the city's hard work and efforts put forward to host basketball's biggest competition.

The ceremony also served to announce that the city will be hosting a youth basketball training camp.

Last Friday, exactly 365 days before FIBA's flagship competition tips off in China, the first clock was revealed in Beijing and the following day, it was Shanghai's turn.
