BRATISLAVA (Slovakia) - Ukraine will return to Division A having made history as they beat Iceland to win the FIBA U20 EuroBasket 2026, Division B for their first title in the competition.
Before Ukraine wrote a new chapter in their history, Sweden celebrated as they knocked off Portugal in overtime in the Third Place Game to earn promotion to Division A.
Ukraine pull away in fourth quarter
Ukraine completed their perfect run to promotion back to Division A by beating Iceland 74-64 in the Final for their first U20 EuroBasket, Division B crown.
They grabbed control of a tight game for good early in the fourth quarter with a 10-0 surge to lead 62-52. Iceland could not get closer than eight points the rest of the way.
Ukraine finally broke through after taking second place in 2007 and 2024 and third on two other occasions. Yehor Sushkin scored 26 points and Maksym Hryshchuk collected 16 points and 13 rebounds in the win.

Sweden shock Portugal with comeback, win in OT
Sweden will be playing in Division A next summer as they shocked Portugal by erasing a fourth quarter deficit before winning 75-68 in overtime to earn promotion. The Swedes last played in Division A in 2018.
Portugal looked in control of the game, leading 62-53 with nearly 4 minutes to play. But Isak Homelius drained back-to-back triples to knot it 62-62 with 63 seconds to go. Homelius added another three-ball to put Sweden ahead only to see Apolo Caetano answer with a three-pointer off the glass with 6.6 seconds remaining to force overtime.
Sweden allowed only three points in the extra session to book their ticket to Division A. It is their second third place finish following 2008 to go with their second-placed showings in 2010 and 2015.
Homelius led the way with 19 points and Anton Fontin added 13 points and 12 rebounds for Sweden. Caetano finished with 16 points for Portugal, who have not played in Division A since 2022.
