BRATISLAVA (Slovakia) - The FIBA U20 EuroBasket 2026, Division B is over and the confetti has been cleaned away with Ukraine winning the title and headed to the Division A along with Iceland and Sweden.
Before the tournament gets stored in our collective memory banks, let's look back at the top players from the competition.
Here are nine players who stood out from the rest in the tournament.
Yehor Sushkin - Ukraine
POINT GUARD
Birth Date: May 27, 2006 (20 years old) Height: 188 cm / 6'2" Stats: 18.9 PTS, 2.9 REB, 4.7 AST - 15.7 EFF
Sushkin took home the MVP trophy for a reason - because he was the star of the title-winning team. The point guard led the offensive impressively by scoring 18.9 points per game while dishing out 4.7 assists to 2.9 turnovers. Sushkin, who has already played for Ukraine's senior national team in the already in the FIBA 2027 European Qualifiers and Pre-Qualifiers, also was a major threat from downtown, hitting 42.4 percent of his three-pointers.
Viktor Ludviksson - Iceland
POWER FORWARD
Birth Date: May 14, 2006 (20 years old) Height: 197 cm / 6'5" Stats: 16.9 PTS, 12.1 REB, 3.4 AST, 1.8 STL, 1.5 BLK - 23.8 EFF
Ludviksson was a major factor in Iceland earning promotion back to Division A after being relegated last summer. The power forward led the tournament in efficiency, while picking up double-doubles in his first six games - earning a spot on the All-Star Five. Ludviksson averaged 4.0 offensive rebounds per game while dishing out 3.4 assists from the low blocks. Defensively, he was a menace as well with 1.8 steals and 1.5 blocks.
Desmond Yiamu - Ukraine
POWER FORWARD
Birth Date: September 29, 2006 (19 years old) Height: 201 cm / 6'7" Stats: 9.4 PTS, 8.9 REB, 2.4 AST, 1.3 STL - 15.7 EFF
Yiamu helped Ukraine claim the title as a guy who does whatever the team needs, averaging near double figures in points and rebounds. The big man dominated in the first two games with double-doubles of 13 points, 11 rebounds and 23 points, 19 rebounds. Yiamu, playing in his fifth youth EuroBasket event since 2022, also collected 8 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists in the Semi-Finals against Portugal.
Cheick-Oumar Fadiga - Sweden
POINT GUARD
Birth Date: September 5, 2007 (18 years old) Height: 188 cm / 6'2" Stats: 13.6 PTS, 4.3 REB, 4.1 AST, 1.6 STL - 12.9 EFF
Fadiga helped Sweden earn their first spot back in Division A since 2018 by leading the team in scoring with 13.6 points per game and grabbing a spot on the All-Star Five. The point guard, who won't turn 19 until early September, showed the experience of playing in the Division A the last two summers at the FIBA U18 EuroBasket - including reaching the Quarter-Finals in 2024. Fadiga showed he can shoot from the outside, hitting 38.5 percent on three-pointers; while also defending well on the wings with 1.6 steals per game.
Jhonathan Andrade - Portugal
POINT GUARD
Birth Date: July 14, 2006 (20 years old) Height: 184 cm / 6'0" Stats: 15.6 PTS, 3.4 REB, 2.1 AST, 3.0 STL - 13.6 EFF
Portugal were just one win from returning to the Division A for just the second time following 2022. But they could not beat Sweden in the Third Place Game despite Andrade's big effort all tournament. He led the team in scoring and efficiency. This was the point guard's finest result in his five youth EuroBaskets in Division B. In addition to being an offensive leader, Andrade also stood out on defense, ranking second in the competition with 3.0 steals a contest.
Emmanuel Agbason - Azerbaijan
CENTER
Birth Date: October 9, 2009 (16 years old) Height: 206 cm / 6'9" Stats: 14.4 PTS, 14.9 REB, 4.1 BLK - 23.3 EFF
Agbason provided a rarely seen moment in European hoops in the group stage for Azerbaijan as the 16-year-old collected a triple-double with blocks. Agbason collected 12 points, 18 rebounds and 10 blocks against North Macedonia. For the tournament he averaged 14.4 points, 14.9 rebounds and 4.1 blocks. The blocks average tied Killian Gribben of Ireland from 2023 for the highest in the competition's history. Agbason has already played six games with the Azerbaijan senior national team at the FIBA EuroBasket 2029 Pre-Qualifiers and competed at the Youth Basketball Champions League with BC Sabah.
Victor Okojie - Ireland
FORWARD
Birth Date: July 10, 2006 (20 years old) Height: 206 cm / 6'9" Stats: 14.0 PTS, 10.3 REB, 2.7 AST, 1.9 STL, 1.4 BLK - 18.9 EFF
Ireland made history by taking fifth place - improving from their seventh place in this competition from last summer for the country's best result in a men's Youth EuroBasket. And, Okojie was a massive part of that success with 14.0 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. The forward relied on his excellent athleticism at both ends, including picking up 1.9 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. Okojie already debuted in Ireland's senior national team at the FIBA EuroBasket 2029 Pre-Qualifiers.
Edson De Sousa Silva - Luxembourg
SMALL FORWARD
Birth Date: December 15, 2006 (19 years old) Height: 191 cm / 6'3" Stats: 15.6 PTS, 5.9 REB, 2.6 AST, 2.1 STL - 13.7 EFF
Luxembourg returned to the competition after a two-year absence and made history by finishing sixth for the country's best-ever result. De Sousa Silva led the team in scoring with 15.6 points while also dishing out 2.6 assists and swiping 2.1 steals. The small forward scored a tournament high 33 points in Classification 5-8 action against Bulgaria. He also played in this month's FIBA EuroBasket 2029 Pre-Qualifiers.
Maksym Hryshchuk - Ukraine
SMALL FORWARD
Birth Date: March 6, 2006 (20 years old) Height: 201 cm / 6'7" Stats: 16.9 PTS, 8.9 REB, 1.4 AST, 1.1 STL, 1.4 BLK - 21.1 EFF
Hryshchuk made a loud debut in the Ukraine jersey by leading the team in efficiency and ranking second in scoring. The forward was excellent all tournament, picking up back-to-back 32 efficiency values in the Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals. Hryshchuk totalled 28 points and 10 rebounds in Ukraine's tough Quarter-Finals win over Ireland, scoring 12 points alone in the fourth quarter.
