CAIRO (Egypt) - The FIBA Women's Basketball League Africa (WBLA) is heading to Egypt for the second time, and fans will expect mouthwatering action and many memorable moments.

Ferroviario de Maputo capture third title
Ferroviario de Maputo are one of Africa's celebrated teams in the women's game, and their status was further enhanced when they won a third title last year in Dakar, Senegal.
Ferroviario de Maputo appeared in their sixth final in 2024
While going unbeaten in last year's WBLA with a 6-0 record, Ferroviario de Maputo made their sixth final. They are one final behind Angola's Inter Clube de Luanda.
Al Ahly improve despite losing in the final
Egyptian club Al Ahly Sporting Club went a step further last year. After finishing third in 2019, Al Ahly SC finished second in Dakar.
Mucauro wins title No. 3
As Ferroviario de Maputo marched to a third top-of-the-podium finish last year, Ingvild Mucauro, the MVP of the 2019 tournament and a four-time finalist, also won the same number of WBLA trophies as her club.
Kane captures the 2024 WBLA MVP crown
Senegal's Ndioma Kane had a memorable continental tournament, averaging 13 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists. She also had a good FIBA Africa Zone 5 qualifying tournament, posting 10 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists.
Rwanda makes strides in club competition
APR became the second club from the East African nation to reach the WBLA final four. The Rwandese club finished third in last year's tournament, a step further than compatriots REG, who finished fourth in 2023.
APR trio lead the scoring
The Rwanda club were loaded in attack during the 2024 WBLA, with Canadian point guard Shaina Pellington averaging a superb 18.2 points. Evergreen Angolan shooting guard Italee Lucas averaged 16.5 points, while US centre Kirsten Bell scored 15.8 points in the tournament.
