Raneem Elgedawy has won her first major continental trophy at both the club and individual levels.

    CAIRO (Egypt) - Raneem Elgedawy played a crucial role in helping her childhood club, Al Ahly Sporting Club, to win their first Women's Basketball League Africa (WBLA) title on Sunday in Cairo, Egypt.

    The hosts of the 12-team tournament finished their campaign undefeated in six games, having beaten three-time African champions Ferroviario de Maputo 77–51.

    Elgedawy, who displayed consistent performances throughout the tournament, was named the 2025 WBLA Most Valuable Player.

    The Egyptian international player paced Al Ahly Sporting Club with 29 points, 18 rebounds and three steals in Sunday's title game, averaging 18.7 points and 10.7 rebounds.

    The 1.88 m (6 ft 2 in) centre was joined in the 2025 WBLA All-Tournament Team by Aliyah Matharu (ASC Ville de Dakar), Yacine Diop (APR), Ingvild Mucauro (Ferroviario de Maputo) and Hagar Amer (Al Ahly Sporting Club).

    FIBA Africa attributed the following individual awards:

    - Best Rebounder - Hagar Amer (Al Ahly Sporting Club) with 65 boards - Best Three-point shooter - Kayana Traylor (REG) with 20 triples made - Best Scorer - Kayana Traylor (REG) with 137 points
