Tunisia secured the region's sole ticket for the 2026 FIBA U18 Women's AfroBasket.

SFAX (Tunisia) - On Monday, the U18 Women's AfroBasket Qualifier for Zone 1 came to an end with Tunisia finishing with an unmatched record of four wins.

After six game days in which Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia faced their opponents twice, Tunisia proved to be too strong for their North African rivals.

They never took their foot off the pedal, beating their rivals by an average of 22 points per game.

Their largest winning margin was a 26-point victory (74–48) over Morocco, and their lowest scoring was a 13-point triumph (71–58) over Morocco in the second meeting between the two teams.

Much of Tunisia's success was attributed to 17-year-old Rime Omri, who recorded two double-doubles and averaged 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Tunisia has advanced to the 2026 FIBA U18 Women's Africa Cup, which is scheduled for August 5-16 in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.

    Morocco

Morocco lost both games to Tunisia but defeated Algeria twice, finishing second in the regional qualifier with a 2–2 win-loss record.

    Algeria

Although Algeria lost all four of their games and finished last in the qualifiers, Lina Lakedja and Mellina Benhamza stood out.

The duo led the regional qualifier as the top scorers with averages of 12.5 and 12.3 points, respectively.
