    MIES (Switzerland) - The first set of nations have completed their first window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers. Eight games were played on the third day of action, so here is a look back at who shined brightest.

    Oleksandr Kovliar was just as impressive in Ukraine's 88-71 win over Denmark as he was when he poured in 31 points in the opener, after scoring 28 points on 11 of 21 shots. He also snatched 6 rebounds and dished out 11 assists for an efficiency of 32.

    Great Britain did a great job bouncing back from their heart-breaking loss to Lithuania and grabbed a 90-84 win over Iceland on the road. And, a major thanks for that goes to Carl Wheatle. The guard tallied 22 points on 10 of 15 shooting while also grabbing 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 2 blocks for an efficiency of 24.

    Izan Almansa came off Spain's bench and helped LaFamilia to a comfortable 90-61 win over Georgia in what was also a revenge game for a loss at FIBA EuroBasket 2025. The 20-year-old power forward was a force against Georgia with 12 points on 4 of 6 shots while also corraling 9 rebounds to go with 3 steals and 3 blocks. All that was good for an efficiency of 24.

    Nikola Tanaskovic was making his debut for Serbia in this window. And what a two-game showing it was for the 28-year-old power forward. He collected 16 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists in Serbia's thrilling comeback over Switzerland and then was a major reason Serbia fought off Bosnia and Herzegovina 74-72.

    Tanaskovic registered an efficiency of 28 as he scored 24 points on 7 of 11 shots and 10 of 11 free throws while also picking up 8 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.

    The one player who could not lead his team to a win was Tryggvi Hlinsaon as Iceland lost 90-84 to Great Britain at home. The center did what he could with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 3 blocks. That gave him an efficiency of 24.
