    Girona hammer the holders; Galatasaray hold their nerve

    There were celebrations in the Czech capital for visiting Spar Girona as they posted a stunning 75-60 victory against ZVVZ USK Praha. They jumped past the 2025 winners and hosts off the back of a blistering second quarter which they dominated 26-12, led by a hot spell from Laeticia Amihere who finished with 14 points and 8 boards.

    Girona also prospered from Klara Holm adding 15 points. Praha had no answer to the transition game of Girona who ran them off the floor at times, with Pauline Astier the main bright spot with a game-high 17 points.

    Meanwhile, Flammes Carolo Basket looked on course for a shock win over Galatasaray, only for the Turkish giants to squeeze out a 62-56 triumph.

    In a defensively-dominated encounter, the visitors used their experience to complete the job, with only Kamiah Smalls and Elizabeth Williams reaching double-digits with 10 points each. Coline Franchelin caught the eye for Carolo with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.
