Like fellow Egyptian side Alexandria Sporting, the 2025 WBLA hosts, Al Ahly SC are looking to win the title at home.

CAIRO (Egypt)- Hosts and reigning Women's Basketball League Africa (WBLA) silver medalists Al Ahly Sporting Club are the fourth team through to the 2025 continental semi-finals after seeing off a stubborn CNSS 98-55. The Egyptian side struggled in the opening half, heading to the halftime break with a 45-41 lead but came back guns blazing for a dominant second half against the DR Congo champions to hit the highest score of this year's competition yet.

We are ready for the semis - Delicia Washington

They beat the previous record during a Group C clash in the 2025 WBLA tournament, achieving a 92–37 win against Braveheart.

For the fourth game in a row, veterans Hagar Amer and Raneem Elgedawy dominated on offense, finishing with 18 and 15 points respectively, but for the first time, the former, a 2022 Most Valuable Player, missed out on a double-double. Amer shot 6-for-9 from the field, including two from deep, while converting all her 4 free throws for the team's highest score for the day, in a game six players scored in double digits. She added 6 rebounds and 2 steals for 22 in efficiency rating. The day's double-double came from Elgedawy who shot 6-for-10 and finished with 11 rebounds for 20 in efficiency rating, tied with South Sudan international Delicia Washington who finished with 11 points, coming an assist shy of a double-double. Washington added 6 rebounds and 5 steals to her performance but 6 turnovers hurt her efficiency.

Speaking after the victory, Washington said: "I think we need to have a mindset of putting our foot on the gas and not letting up. We can't start off games being sluggish or slow or playing to the opponent's level. We are a high intensity team and have to start solid." She continued, "We turned the ball over a lot, not because we were under pressure but because we sped up our plays and didn't take care of the ball as we should have. However, we are ready for the semis."
