Aislin Tamez records the second triple-double in FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup history

The Mexican forward posted 20 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists to lead Mexico to a victory over Puerto Rico in the Classification Round.

IRAPUATO (Mexico) – Aislin Tamez delivered a performance to remember on Sunday, becoming just the second player to record a triple-double in the history of the FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup (since 2004). The Mexican star led her team to an 84-64 victory over Puerto Rico in the Classification Round, finishing with a remarkable stat line of 20 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.

In addition to guiding Mexico to the win, Tamez etched her name into the competition’s record books. Only one other player previously recorded a triple-double in the tournament (since 2004). That feat belonged to fellow Mexican Bego Faz, who posted 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 blocks against Puerto Rico during the Group Phase of the 2012 edition. Fourteen years later, another Mexican representative matched the achievement—and once again against the same opponent. Through five games at the FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup 2026, Tamez is averaging 10.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.
