Groups locked in for FIBA U16 AmeriCup

    Find the official tournament groups below for the FIBA U16 AmeriCup in Juarez, Mexico.

    MIAMI (United States) – The groups for the FIBA U16 AmeriCup, which will be held in Mexico, have been set following the official draw conducted this Wednesday at the Regional Office of FIBA Americas, located in Miami, United States. The results of the draw are as follows:

    Group A:

    1. Mexico 2. Dominican Republic 3. Argentina 4. United States

    Group B:

    1. Venezuela 2. Brazil 3. Puerto Rico 4. Canada Before the draw, teams were placed into pairs based on their position in the FIBA Youth Ranking, presented by Nike. Each team was then drawn at random, along with a number determining their position in the schedule. The FIBA U16 AmeriCup, which will be hosted in Mexico, will take place at the Gimnasio Universitario UACJ in Ciudad Juárez from June 2 to 8. The tournament will award four spots to the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2026.

    Competition Format

    In the Group Phase, each team will play one game against each of its group rivals to determine the seeding for the Quarter-Finals. The matchups in the Quarter-Finals will be as follows: 1st A vs. 4th B, 2nd A vs. 3rd B, 2nd B vs. 3rd A, and 1st B vs. 4th A. The four winners of the Quarter-Finals will advance to the Semi-Finals, while the remaining teams will compete for positions 5–8. The winners of the Semi-Finals will play for the gold medal, while the losers will compete for the bronze. The United States has won the title in all eight previous editions of the tournament. FIBA
